In between having nightmares about an apocalypse caused by a three month solo by Yngwie Malmsteen, having survived a typhoon, trying to create a list of the albuns I’ve enjoyed the most in 2009 but realizing they’re either from 2007 or from the last century, Christmas came with a whisper. Nothing much to add, save that it’s probably one of the worst christmas season I can remember. The brief vacation period to follow will be spent on resting, wearing pyjamas for an entire week and trying to write about games I’ve enjoyed the most in 2009. That too is poised to be an epic fail.
With that out of the way:
- Clive Thompson of Wired wrote an excellent article about the Duke that never came to be. Hardest point to take in seems to be that the game was actually turning out good.
- A girl of asian and african offspring endures racism by her chinese peers. The comments on that page alone chill one’s soul.
- Reverend Stuart has been unlocking some of his special features. They’re all mandatory reading and this one, written for Retro Gamer, is no exception – Top 10 racing games you’ve never heard of. Notice that Virtua Racing 32X, one of my all-time favorites in the genre, gets mentioned with this ending quote: “In fact, if there’s a racer anywhere in your soul, your mind will be in Heaven”. I wholeheartedly agree.
- Hello Games shares with Edge and its readership how their games – Joe Danger in particular – are discussed in forums.
- “Eroge” characters talk about their rights and consensual sex in hentai games. Oh em eff gee.
- How not to ruin the next Sonic game. If I had a say, I’d break all that down into the last picture and another one of Sonic CD, but this also seems to work.
- João Vieira, also known as Briosafreak, curator of one of the oldest standing Fallout fan communities (No Mutants Allowed), creator of A Post Nuclear Blog (where our attention was drawn to during the Fallout 3 pre-launch days), and Planet Fallout site director at Gamespy, has surfaced on Twitter. Follow the man, bask in the glow of his radioactive knowledge… Starting January.
- Muramasa: The Demon Blade shares dreams with the fisherman’s wife.
- In utero.
- Harry Porker, amirite?
-
Batman wishes us all a Merry Christmas!
And so do I:
